THE 2008 T-SHIRT ART Early this year the EYC Special Events Committee discussed what type of art or photo we wanted on the 2008 Boat Show Bash T-shirt. We all liked the idea of an Annapolis scene that showed both where the Boat Show takes place and the proposed home of the new National Sailing Hall of Fame, one of our Bash beneficiaries. One of the local artist/photographers recommended to us was John Bildahl.
	John Bildahl is a commercial advertising and magazine illustration photographer living in Annapolis. His work can be seen in Yachting, Cruising World, Motorboating, Passagemaker, Chesapeake Bay Magazine, Soundings, Chesapeake Life, Proptalk/Spinsheet, Wooden Boat, and various trade magazines. In addition to marine photography, he also specializes in product still-life and corporate advertising campaigns.
	Our Committee Chair spent a wild two hour session with John at his studio computer viewing thousands of shots of boats and the Chesapeake. They narrowed the options, discussed them and then broke with the shots on a DVD to share and evaluate. They reconvened a couple of days later and John shared several versions of one of their mutual favorites, a photo he had never published. He showed us numerous textures and various coloring. One stood out as special. It was a shot that met all of our original criteria and became our signature art for the 2008 Boat Show Bash.
